As one would expect, there are many questions surrounding the new TechDawg video that is on the front page of this website. I will try to answer many of those concerns in this post. This might be a long one so here we go...
What you see in that video was made by TechDawg for you guys, to show off what's possible with the new version of Line Rider that will be in retail stores next year. The scenery that you see was not made by a random scenery generator. He created that map through many, many hours of hard work. The reason it looks like he's riding on the scenery is because you can change the color of the lines and also work on multiple layers (I'll get into this a bit further in the message). This gave the feel of him riding on the snow as opposed to an actual line. It was a very clever trick that TechDawg pulled off that we didn't even expect. In a similar way that the community found tricks like the nosegrind and gravity well, TechDawg found this one. Personally, I believe that we will be getting some amazing videos from you guys that are using the tools in ways that we have never imagined...and we love this.
You can still make your maps with the normal lines and I assume this will be how the majority of people use the editor. In fact, there will be many more lines that you will be able to use on top of the normal, acceleration and scenery lines. As time progresses, we will release what they are (be patient, suspense is good )
As I said before, the scenery is all completely unique. He decided to make it a snowy mountain theme but this isn't mandatory. (New Features Alert!!!)We have added the ability to draw on multiple layers that scroll at different rates which can give the feeling of 3D. We have layers in the background that scroll slower and look like they are far off in the distance. Also, you can draw items in front of actual world layer so it looks like the Line Rider is going behind them. The "sky" that you see is a feature that you can turn off if you like. It is a simple option that helps to add some texture to the background instead of just the plain white surface. We know this game is about user customization and our design philosophy has stayed true to this theme in every single feature we have added.
Now for the tricks. This is a fun addition that will help to add some more personality to the tracks. We have added a large amount of tricks that you can pull of during your ride, but they have different durations. If you have a small jump, you have to do a short trick. But be careful, since he is twisting and turning in the air, they do adjust the physics so you must be skillful to land them. You can't just layer them in after the track has been completed.
I'll end this already too long message with the rider remounting the sled. This is not an easy trick to pull off. It will be an advanced move that requires a good amount of skill to do. You must actively bring the rider and his sled close together after they have fallen off and they must be at the correct angle for the rider to reach out and grab his sled.
I'll be posting at random times to help clear up any question you might have but I hoped this message helped out a bit.
Enjoy!
