Brief summary: On the old flash version of line rider, all your tracks are stored in a file called "savedlines.sol". This tutorial explains how to find, send and open these files. (And opening them is a bit more complicated than just double clicking the file!) If you are using the silverlight/unbound game, then this tutorial is not relevant to you.
**Everything below was written by RTL, on the old linerider.com forum; I take no credit for writing any of it.
For all Windows Vista users: C:\Users\Boys\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\so on...
So you wanna know how to find your .sol files? :?
Well, here is a brief explanation on how to FIND your .sol files. You must have View Hidden Files and Folders on for this to work! To do so, go to the Start Menu and click "Search." When it ask what you want to search for, click "All files and folders." Now, under the search criteria, go down to "More Advanced Options" and click "Search Hidden Files and Folders."
-Open up "My Computer" and then your "C Drive."
-Next, click "Documents and Settings", and then your name. (or computer administrators name)
-Click "Application Data", then "Macromedia" and then "Flash Player."
-Now click "#Shared Objects" and inside should be a series of random numbers and letters, click it.
-Now, if you have been playing Line Rider from linerider.com, or using the link from IRtL, find the file "linerider.com."
-Trusting that you have a track saved, inside should be a folder called "savedLines" and should be 5+kb's.
That is your .sol file, every line rider track is saved on that particular file. If you wondering, a track around 3000 lines should be around 300+-kb's, depending on the set-up.
Now, go back to the screen with all the different files and find linerider.com again, drag this from that menu onto your desktop for easier access. REMEMBER NEVER TO BE PLAYING WITH LINE RIDER WHILE MESSING WITH .SOL FILES! I HAVE SERIOUSLY SCREWED UP GREAT TRACKS BECAUSE OF IT! If you have any troubles, email me at william41992@yahoo.com.
All my tracks are gone, HELP!
Well, remember that folder named #Shared Objects with all the random numbers inside? Well, go back to it. If you click all of the random numbers, you should get a page with about 50 files inside. If you used to play Line Rider from the link provided at IRtL, then find the file called "official-linerider.com" and open it. Inside should be a file (5+mb's), copy this file. Now go back to the screen with all the files and find "linerider.com." Click it and paste the .sol file in there and rename it (if it isn't already) to savedLines. If there is already a file in there, you will have to rename that file to something like "My Tracks." Your track should show up next time you play! :ashamed: REMEMBER NEVER TO BE PLAYING WITH LINE RIDER WHILE MESSING WITH .SOL FILES! I HAVE SERIOUSLY SCREWED UP GREAT TRACKS BECAUSE OF IT!
So you wanna know how to share .sol files? :?
Now, you obviously have found your .sol, but don't know how to give it to another member of the site? Well, all you have to do is go to mediafire.com (no membership required)and upload the .sol file, once the uploading and verifying process are both done, you should get a screen saying "1 file(s) uploaded successfully." Go to the bottom of the page where it says "Sharing URL" and copy that and pm it to me here on the forum, at linerider.com, at IRtL, or email the person! So you wanna know how to receive .sol files? :?
Well, you know where they are at, you know how to give them (man your generous ) but how do you receive them? Well, once someone gives you the link from mediafire.com, you should go there and download the .sol file. When it ask you where to save the file, save it to your desktop. If you double click it, it will say "Windows cannot open the file" blah blah blah... Ok, so you should have the linerider.com folder on your desktop, now go in there and rename your .sol file to "My Tracks" or "Manual Tracks", just something you will remember it by. Now, copy the file you just downloaded and paste it in there, the name should be savedLines. If the name is not savedLines, simply rename it to savedLines. Next time, you pull up Line Rider you should be able to play the recently downloaded file! REMEMBER NEVER TO BE PLAYING WITH LINE RIDER WHILE MESSING WITH .SOL FILES!
