Recording Your Line Rider Videos by Ridin'theLines

Hello all, today I am going to teach you one way of recording your Line Rider videos so they can be displayed on this site. I hope this tutorial will be easy for you and helps! Eye-wink

To start off, there are two programs that we need to download. Cheat Engine 5.4 and Camstudio.

What does Cheat Engine 5.4 do you might wonder? Well, Cheat Engine 5.4 is a device that is used to slow down programs on your computer. In this case, we want to slow down Line Rider, so we can capture more frames to get a steadier recording. >>>Click to Download Cheat Engine 5.4<<<

What does Camstudio do you might wonder? Well, Camstudio is a device that will record Line Rider as it is playing. It is pretty much a camera for your computer. However, Camstudio produces very laggy (jumpy) videos, which is why we must use Cheat Engine. >>>Click to Download Camstudio 2.5<<<

Ok, so you now should have Camstudio and Cheat Engine 5.4 installed on your computer. Well, the first thing we want to do is open up Cheat Engine 5.4, it should look something like this:

You will notice a flashing computer in the top left of your screen, click it. This will bring up a page that looks like this:

That is a list of all your currently running computer programs. You will want to scroll down the list until you find a program that says "iexplorer.exe" if you are using Internet Explorer, or "firefox.exe" if you are using Firefox. Smiling Double click on the one you are using.

You should return to Cheat Engines main screen again. On the right side of the screen, there is a box you can check that says "Enable Speehack", check that box now and use these settings:

Click "Set Speed" when you have those settings. Now, minimize Cheat Engine 5.4 and open up your Line Rider track. Along with it, open up Camstudio. If you play your track, it should be noticeably slower than it was before. This is perfectly fine! That is what is supposed to happen with Cheat Engine 5.4, which means you have correctly performed the first step. Smiling Now, once your Line Rider track is open, let's take a look at Camstudio. Since we don't want to record the whole screen, only the Line Rider part, go up to "Region" (next to "File") and select "Fixed Region." You should get a box that looks like this:

Hit select and drag the markers from the top left portion of Line Rider down to the bottom right portion. Now, you are ready to record your video. All you have to do now is hit the red record button.

Hit play and record your track! Make sure that Line Rider is running slower than normal! If not, then you will not get the best recording! Once it is done recording, press the Stop Button. It should come up with a screen on where to save, name it to "My Track" or a name you can easily remember. Now, we can move on to editing of our track. Smiling

All editing can be done in a program called Windows Movie Maker. If you do not know where WMM (Windows Movie Maker) is, then go to Start Menu, All Programs, Windows Programs, Windows Movie Maker. You should get a big screen with a bunch of things on it. In the top left corner, there should be a list of task that you can perform. As for right now, we want to import our Line Rider video into Windows Movie Maker. To do so, click this button:

You should get a screen that looks similiar to this:

If you can not find the Camstudio menu, it should be saved in C: Drive, Program Files, Camstudio. Your recorded video should be there, the name of mine was "My Track", so I'll load that now. Your video should now be sitting at the top of Windows Movie Maker, all we have to do now is drag the video down into the time line at the bottom. Do so now. Your video should now be in WMM's time line.

Your video was recorded slower than usual though, remember? So, we need to speed it up! To do this, go to "Video Effects.":

A list of various effects that can be added into your video should come up. You need to find the video called "Speed up, Double" in order to speed up your videos. It should look something like this:

Take that and drag it into your Line Rider video in the time line. You should notice that the video is now about half as long as it was. The video should now play at the normal Line Rider rate, but without the jumpiness of regular recordings! Your not done yet, however. Sticking out tongue

When your done editing your videos with credits, titles, and music you need to click the "Publish to This Computer" button.

This will save your project as a .wmv file instead of a .WMM file. Warning! YouTube will not accept .WMM files, so you must do this! Hit "Next" and choose "Best quality for playback on my computer" and then "Publish." The video should begin to load. Depending on how fast your computer is, and the length of the video, this can take anywhere from five seconds to one hour! Shocked Once it gets done click "Finish" and head over to YouTube.com. If you don't have an account, sign up! It is quick, easy, and free! It'll only take about five minutes of your time and you get unlimited video hosting! Smiling

To the right of the search bar in YouTube should be a yellow button that says "Upload." Click that button and you should go to a screen where you enter in the Title and Description of your video. Fill that out and click "Upload a Video." Next, you need to "Browse" for the video you made. It should be under "C: Drive, *Your username*, Videos". Click "Upload Video" once you have found your video.

A loading screen should come up, wait for it to finish loading. You will be directed to a screen that says "Your video will be on your channel once it finished being validated." Well, check back at your channel in about 30 minutes to see if your video is there! Once your video appears on your channel, go HERE to upload your Line Rider video. When it as your for the "URL or Embed Code", simply take the link from your YouTube video and put it in that box! Once you finish filling out the information, your video will be on the site! Smiling

This is the difference of using Camstudio with Cheat Engine 5.4 compared to without.

Without Cheat Engine 5.4:

With Cheat Engine 5.4: ("Reality" by x612nt13)

See the difference? Sticking out tongue

Is there any other program that does the same thing as Cheat Engine 5.4? i don't have admin rights and can't install it. Help

But, in spite of that, the tutorial looks great! thanks for helping the community! Rawk

From what I know, there are possibly other programs, but CE is the best. Why can't you install it anyway? You mean your parents or something have disabled it? Or did I give you a bad link?

Yes, you can. Note that you can press "M" when the track is playing to put it into slow motion, but the effects will be different then this as you can not control the speed of the video like you can with CE.

Yeah, haha. They are the same thing. 5.4 is just an updated version of it. I think the only difference was that some firewalls thought that 5.3 was a virus, and blocked them. Shouldn't make a difference with you though. Smiling

Make sure you have selected firefox.exe for Firefox or iexplorer.exe for Internet Explorer. Also, make sure you click "Set Speed" and do not exit out of Cheat Engine, minimize it. Other than that, it should work!

It should be the same. Feel free to experiment away from .675 though, to find what is best for the video. Quirks are usually recorded fast, as scenery tracks are recorded slower. It's your choice. Eye-wink

So, my recording is different depending on the way the track is?

Well, it can be. If you use those settings it shouldn't be, but depending on your system the outcome can vary.

Be sure you have it on .675, and not 675. You need to speed it up at the end, not slow it down.

No, sorry. YouTube puts quality down the drain, it shouldn't be too bad though. Good

Hmm, strange. Be sure to double click your internet browser and it should work. Puzzled
